About Tools For UK

Tools For UK is a free website with online calculators and converters made for people living in the United Kingdom. You type in a few numbers, and you get a clear answer without signing up for anything.

Why we made this site

A lot of calculators online are built for the US. When you use them for UK questions, the tax bands are wrong, the currency is wrong, and the examples don't match how things work here. We got tired of working around that.

So we started building tools the other way round. Each calculator here begins with the UK rules, such as income tax bands, VAT, stamp duty, and the fees charged by UK selling platforms, and is written to match them.

The site is growing all the time. At the moment the tools fall into these groups:

Party planners and other small tools that we add around the year, such as for Halloween and Christmas.

You can see everything in one place on our list of all online tools. A few of the most used ones are the take-home salary calculator, the stamp duty calculator, the eBay fee calculator and the kg to stone converter.

How we build our tools

• We start with the rules. Before writing a calculator, we look up the current rates, thresholds or fees from official sources such as GOV.UK, HMRC, or the platform's own fee page.
• We keep them simple. One page, a few boxes to fill in, and the result right below. No account needed.
• We test on phones. Most people use these tools on their mobile, so each one is checked on a small screen.
• We update them. Tax rates and fees change, often at the start of a new tax year. When they do, we update the tools to match.
